This is an example of creative fund raising. A great org, FAIR (http://www.faironline.org), auctioned off posters designed by my friend, the legendary, funky, fabulous artist Shepard Fairey, re-imagined and expanded upon by a long list of celebs. The result was a fantastic collection of unique and wonderful versions of his LOVE UNITES, DEFEND EQUALITY poster, which were then sold to help FAIR fight Prop 8 (the ludicrous law preventing same-sex couples from marrying) in CA.
This was my re-imagined poster. You can’t really tell in this picture, but the poster is mounted on a vintage mirror, which created a cool, interactive effect when onlookers peered at themselves through the collage. I had such a great time doing it (in fact I would look forward to coming home to my little collage station on our kitchen table to work on it every night for a week!), and it inspired me to think outside the box when raising funds for organizations.
