Homemade Alfredo sauce is one of the easiest pasta sauces to make from scratch. And while I certainly will buy a store-bought sauce from time to time to speed up the dinner making process Alfredo sauce is, in my opinion, one of those a sauce recipes that is truly better homemade than from a jar. Plus it’s easy! With only five basic ingredients anyone can have success with this recipe.
I usually serve Alfredo sauce over fettuccine noodles, but it’s great with other noodle shapes as well. I also love this recipe as a pizza sauce!

Ingredients
- Butter – unsalted
- Heavy whipping cream
- Garlic
- Italian seasoning
- Parmesan cheese
- Salt & pepper – to taste
While some like to thicken sauce with cornstarch I will sometimes add a tablespoon or two of plain greek yogurt to this recipe. But it’s not necessary, just an option.
Directions
In a saucepan melt the butter and lightly saute the minced garlic in the butter for 1-2 minutes.
Next, stir in the heavy whipping cream and Italian seasoning. Stir so everything gets warm and well combined.
Then stir in the Parmesan cheese. Continue to stir until the cheese melts and the mixture becomes a sauce. Taste and season with salt and pepper to your liking.

So delicious. I forgot how great Alfredo is!
This recipe comes together so fast and was delicious!
I made this recipe this weekend, and it’s great! The proportions are just right, and the italian seasoning makes a difference. ABM has a ton of great recipes, but I always check here first for a basic recipe, because odds are they have a version that’s great!
Looking so yummy and this is my favorite too.
Alfredo sauce has always seemed so intimidating but this recipe makes it enticing, even for a non-cook like myself. Looking forward to trying it!
This was so easy and delicious! Definitely will add it to our normal rotation of dinners. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing! Alfredo sauce is something I only have when I eat out (which is not much these days). The jarred alfredo grosses me out, and I’ve never attempted making it at home.
I just made this and it turned out great! I am so pleased with myself, and I will be making this again in the future for sure!
Yay! Glad you liked it. And I agree, also not a fan of jarred Alfredo Sauce. Jarred tomato sauce is often really good but for some reason Alfredo tends to have a weird flavor to me, almost chemical or something.
Make this often and it comes out great!
This was so yummy.
I’ve always struggled with cooking, and lately I’ve been challenging myself to 1) Improve my cooking skillz (<3) and 2) To really enjoy cooking.
This was so easy… and my family thought it was so delicious that it did wonders for my self esteem 🙂
Sounds delicious. Totally will try it!

I’ve never made Alfredo before but now it is at the top of my list!
Thanks for sharing, Emma! I love Alfredo sauce, but I never tried making it on my own. I will now!
I LOVE alfredo. Butter, cheese and carbs – gotta love that!
